Sounds like one of your fan fics.

We actually did have around 20 people online.
However, it would be more accurate to say that there were 17 assault dreads instead of cruisers.

Just goes to show that both ICC and K'luth think they can take on UGTO (and each other) on their own.
Then both failing miserably. Never gets old... or does it?

Isn't that the UGTO's job?

This!
I personally don't trust most Kluth players. BUT I would take the risk to get backstabbed by them anyday if there was the possibility to drive UGTO back.
So if some high ranked ICC and Kluth players decided to somehow organize a two-fronts-assault into UGTO space I would follow without hesitating

|
Well, for the most part, most Kluth fleets will honor any alliance. When you say team up for the battle, we'll team up.
But once the battle is over, we'll backshot you
K'luth, following treaties to the letter since 2002.

They might honour treaties, but (not meant as an insult) seem to have little strategic understanding. Let me explain:
Situation: A Massive ICC Fleet is invading Luyten to push back UGTO.
Strategic wise thinking (for Kluth players who withness this Situation): ICC are keeping UGTO busy in Luyten? Let's attack R33 since UGTO can't defend both systems at once.
Kluth way of thinking: Hey! Massive ICC fleet in Luyten? Let's kill them!
Even without being allied, 2 factions can cooperate by fighting a common enemy while trying not to get in each others way.
If it hadn't been for the cloaking uggies, we wouldn't have attacked the Kluth during our first invasion into Luyten this weekend.

The thing about being Kluth is that you don't need to capture 4 systems. We just need our home system, and maybe... maybe, a planet or two in enemy territory.
Our ability to cloak, and deploy deep space supp plat bases in enemy territory already gives us sufficient reach. So unless there is a treaty in place, Uggies and ICCs fighting each other only means one thing. Opportunity.
We won't just jump ICCs. We will jump Uggies too.
So what are you waiting for?
Make a treaty with your friendly neighborhood Lobster today! And win the benefit of an invisible friend/guardian angel/mysterious stranger who will suddenly appear on your wing and light up your enemies with a thousand yellow lances of light.
Just remember to run like hell just before your treaty expires

And here the problem of the nearly noexistant economy in DS (I'm counting the res system as some kind of economy) arises.
I have nothing to offer, apart from the 100 Credits one of the I-buy-Credits-from-time-to-time-just-to-support-DS-guy gave me once. My piloting skill is average at best and I'm a nonagressive player, which means, apart from defending own planets or pushing into enemy territory with a large part of the faction, I will rarely attack other players on purpose. So I'm no big threat to anyone. Even with my near promotion to FA and the ability to fly AD's, EAD's and stations this won't change.

i actully get to agree with you on this one.
also best way to break ugto stalemate is sit back and fling missles at them untill they get bored and log.

Mysterious Stranger? Wouldn't that be a .44 Magnum then?

Times have changed. They went from .44 Mag, to a Fatboy, and now to SIs and Disruptors.
