People kept shouting it wasn't FFA and previous comments in this thread said otherwise, so I didn't want to bother.

Well that because it wasn't an FFA.
Teamwork across the factions was encouraged as it'd help people rank higher.
Attack other players in the event would work against the ultimate goal, so while not directly punishable, you wouldn't rank high, and therefore could be out of the credit running.
Most players on at the time of the event, would of probably been there to get a shot at getting some credits.
In any case, variants of the rules in the future can introduce an ffa style of gameplay if desired by a decent few.
Well that's what I took away from the event at least. [ This Message was edited by: The Fridge on 2013-06-30 00:15 ]

I wasn't much interested in the event itself... I wanted to take advantage of actually fighting some people instead of AI, since (at least this weekend) the game has been deader than i've ever seen. But perhaps I'm just not logging on at peak times.

What do mean dude? Were you busy talking instead of fighting? Or were you looking for teammates to collaborate with? Either way that has nothing to do with the Event Team's planning or execution of the event.

Achilles, being with us on teamspeak before you already know it's the best way for communication. Phantom invited me to his team, we were on teamspeak. Not that the prize makes a difference to me he was indeed the only one who registered his team before the event as the rules stated. We bagged two kills on Bobby as did another team. I suppose since my name popped up as the one delivering the final blow and being Kluth he might have gotten overlooked. [ This Message was edited by: Guyton (Angel of Death) on 2013-06-30 05:54 ]

If you were to use the offical Darkspace TS we might could confirm this. and we could put this into consideration next time, but being as you were not there is not much we could o i guess, atleast it would seem like we could, same with the vent server.

There is no way to verify if there was communication on Teamspeak or Ventrilo, only via game channels.
I suggested against this prior to the event, however this was Challenger's show, and without making mistakes you will never learn what works and what doesn't. I've already made the request that the next event not have any stringent rules that push people away (communication, FFA vs. team, etc).
Those of you complaining - be thankful there was an event at all. These are volunteers, players just like you, they get nothing out of this. There are bound to be times when this doesn't fall within your parameters of what is fun and enjoyable, but that's why there are multiple events : so people with different wants have them fulfilled.
Instead of complaining, give constructive feedback like AdmiralChaos did, and state that due to the nature of some rules or parameters of the event you didn't want to participate.

well, honestly i didn't even think the even was there when i came.
and i didn't think my name would come up, didn't make much kills, just kept trying to help out.
must admit though the real fun was all of us teaming against pirates
great even, whether i win something or not next tie it really was exciting to attend.
huge thanks to the devs, you did great.

Thanks for all the hard work guys! Job well done to the staff, volunteers and participants.
Looking forward to future events.
Feedback: Multiple targets (B.Beaconbeard I & II & III etc...) would be preferred.
