As it is, there are about 23 systems in the MetaVerse. Currently, UGTO has most of the small systems for home systems. (With the exclusion of Lalande, K'Luth are usually trying to control it anyway) Now, of all these small systems, the planet count/habitability is anyone's guess.
The one system we DO know about in particular is the Sol System. We know it has over 50 planets/satellites. This would make it the largest system to date in the MetaVerse, and a possibility with what Faustus is doing with the latest code...
Now, with the MetaVerse expansion, UGTO are bound to get some larger systems (unless old Palestar is mean to us poor, dinky uggys!!). However, what I would like to see, is at least a realisticly SIZED version of the system. It would be nice if you could actually make the planets look like the real ones too. (For Example, Titan has an Atmosphere, is isn't completely barren. http://www.nineplanets.org/titan.html ) You were acurate enough to include Sol's Asteroid belt, why not the planet count and image? (If you want to see this mystical asteroid belt, open the Map editor, select Import, hit the key S, and that should find Sol for you. Open it. The blue Ns are the asteroid belt)

Now I'm no expert on the satellites of Sol, but aren't the vast majority of moons really just large asteroids caught in a planets gravity? Sure we get the planet-like ones such as Titan and Ganyemede but their probably exceptions. Look at Mars and its moons, Phobos and Demios(I think). These aren't even round, their potato-shaped asteroids. I doubt the UGTO would go through the expense of setting up a colony on a most-likely resource poor rock. And Pluto's moon Charon must be nearly microscopic on a intersystem scale, its half the size of Pluto, making it far to small for colonization.
What I think DS needs is a new class of planets to act as small moons. Like infernos you couldn't build or land troops on them, but they would be minable. The developers could then use these mini-planets to fill in all the various moons in Sol, and also to flesh out some of the other smaller systems.

Which has been brought up several times. I did make a realistic Sol map. 96 worlds and counting. Which is liek almost unreal to capture woudl take at least a full 24 to capture or recapture...

24 hours to capture? Without resistance I assume? Sounds good to me.
And, while on the topic of realism, Io is the biggest of the Galilean moons, not Europa or Ganymede.

Then, the fact that it gets proposed so often would indicate its a popular idea...

Maybe they should be buildable, but only containing a handful of "hexes", so to speak. Allowing only a half dozen or so structures.

Quick poll:
Who wants to spend over 20 minutes flying accross a single system?

And with the patch, i think that the Earth image has to be updated to fix the "Island of Florida" problem...

I never complained about the distances. I think they are fine. If you want a big map you can make one, really. I just think SOL should a little more realistic. That's it nothing more and smaller moons.

howabout this:
the moons not represented have been deemed either too small, unsuitable for habitation, or were rendered unusable during the UGTO's war with the Pirate Clans.
*EDIT*
BTW, Jump Drive speed was increased hugely a while back. It was a MAJOR boon for the game. Taking two minutes to go between the Boonie Cluster and Af/Naix really wasn't fun. I was against the change at the time but it's a good idea..
increasing star system size would require increasing the distance between systems would throw everything out of whack and require fuel rebalancing, jumpdrive rebalancing, and probably some other stuff.

In moment all new things are in place and new patches are out and new players are in ...
we will need bigger systems and 96 ... is pretty nice ... lot of stuff to capture and fight over
and in fact ... gone of scenario for good (except some short battle skirmishes)

Keep in mind that some realism is abandoned for playability...
We go with realism only as far as it provides the most fun in this GAME...

Ds is to "fast", J drives should have never been made faster.
