All right, Backy. Nice job finding a temporary fix. It's a slight chore, but at least I'll be able to log into the MV without my subscription going to waste.

And this is why I'm glad I disabled automatic updates the very moment it started nagging me.
If you're that worried about getting spammed with virus's or worse, stop browing pr0n, stop downloading illegal files, don't visit dodgy sites or recieve files from people you can't beat the crap out of in RL.
Simple rules that keep your machine running, better than installing more MS crap (that once again proves it breaks more than it fixes).

I know exactly what's wrong: You didn't follow the steps.
Go over it again - you've deleted the directory target. I specifically said only TACK the information you see in the box onto the end of yours.

Your target line should read:
"C:Program FilesPalestarDarkSpaceClient.exe" cygnus.palestar.com 9020 1234567890
Ofcourse, the 1234567890 number should be replaced with your OWN SID.
There should also be no quotes around it (" "), only the directory (if it still doesn't work, remove them completely).

move the " to right after the client.exe

already tryed without the blockqoutes. there just part of my xp i think because without them it doesn't work at all. and with em it says.
the name c:program filespalestardarkspaceclient.exe cygnus.palestar.com 9020 1234567890 wich is entered in the target area is invalid. check if the file name or pad are correct.
the above text is transelated as good as possible so you now what i get.
i dont actualy juse the 1234567890 but my own sid code. just dont want that other people now it.

HOKAY i got my own set of issues with this thing atm.
I attempted to delete the update, and half way through the deletion process, the data corrupted or something because it gave me a basic windows error message, and closed.
Naturally, i attempted to remove the program again, to discover the computer has decided the update is already removed, when in truth, it remains there quite content.
I attempted to reinstall the update to see if it would fix the problem, but when i did, it gave me an "update already installed!" message.
Having ran out of ideas after sending microsoft support an email detailing this, i attempted jacks little fix. This too didnt work. The game remains in the loading screen, with the mouse confined to a small square inside the loading screen.
I am at a total loss as to what to do now, tried reinstalling DS too. Currently, only DS Beta is operating, so any help you guys can give, would be greatly appreciated

Ok, i got a question. when is the actual fix coming out? i cannot uninstall any updates on my pc. It's just not an option really.
i also tried the client.exe fix and it dosen't work for me either. ( it's not just you Timbo. i've done everything right, i'm sure of it )
So without any comments from the peanut gally, when is the update/fix going to come out? maybe you game gurus need to refund some of us our money? Seriously, should i wait or just cancel my account...?

FYI: Internet Explorer 8 also causes this crash (without the update).

I think...I think...Your awesome Jack! Not sure if it worked cuz apparently the server is down? But at least it tried to connect to the game instead of lobby. Not sure I got it right cuz im hella tired but in any case that is the best explanation I've seen because I use firefox and got rid of the updates with no effect.
