Hi, i'm new to the game, just downloaded the installer, runned and installed normally, but when i tried to run from the my windows desktop shortcut it displayed an error "Missing or not found mfc80.dll". I googled to find the file, downloaded a fresh mfc80.dll from dll-files.com, extracted it to the game folder, tried to run again, still same error, tried to place on my system32 folder, and rebooted, tried to run again, same error.I run out of ideas :/
Thanks, for reading this

Have you tried running GCQL as an administrator?
(Right Click -> Run as Administrator)
or
(Right Click -> Properties -> Compatibility -> Tick the "Run this program as an administrator" box -> Apply)
Perhaps your Virus Protection is removing the file? [ This Message was edited by: PokeYourWaffle[Helper] on 2012-12-05 14:45 ]

Yup, gets the same error, and the GCQL.exe process exits when i acknowledge the error. My antivirus Avast! doesn't said anything aqbout it, and just to be sure it runs faster i added the game folder to the exclusions list

In your GameCQ folder, is the file in question specifically named mfc80.dll? Double check it isn't missing anything in the name.
What OS are you running on?
Possibly disable your antivirus and reinstall over the previous install. Will most likely fix your problem, not too sure about you finding the .dll on some other site.
I'll look into it more tomorrow, need to go at the moment.

in my gameCQ folder, the MFC71 and 80 are apparently replaced by BCGCB70071 and BCGCB70080 dll files.
not getting any problems about the mfc files being missing or anything...
need confirmation if these files are the dlls that DS 1.692 uses.

Expect a response from Phanteon.
Although most of the time I do not agree with his thoughts, is one of the most knowledgeable about the game installation.

May I ask where you got the installer from?
The current installer shouldn't require any form of the MFC dll's to run.
I searched for all dll files within my GameCQ folder (including sub directories for development purposes and the actual game), and no MFC70, 71, or 80 files were found:
It's possible that you may have downloaded an installer from another website that was out of date. The best links to get the installer from are the blue highlighted ones on the download page (Palestar Mirror being from us).
as a note, this can also happen when the Visual Studio 2005 redistribution package isn't installer correctly. We automatically attempt to do this when DarkSpace is installing. You should be able to find a file called "vcredist_x86.exe" in the /GameCQ/ directory - I would suggest running this to make sure all the files required for the game and lobby system to work are installed. FIX: An application that uses the Mfc80.dll module or the Mfc80u.dll module crashes after you install a product that updates the module version
It's not DS issue.

Go to the following URL and download the latest 2005 C++ redistribution package for your OS:
http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=3387
Let us know if this fixes the issue.

Finished downloading the vcredist_x86.exe from the link, closed browser, run Vcredist as admin, normal install, window exited then i tried to run GCQL.exe as admin and normal, same error.
Here's a screenshot of the error:
Sorry my OS is in portuguese, but translating literally, means :
"The program could not be initiated because you are missing MFC80.DLL in your computer. Try reinstalling the application to solve this problem"
