i am normally an easy going guy but i remmber back in the day were people were complaing about luth being able to duke it out with other ships without having to cloak. now they got it set up like that and there mad at us cause all we do is cloak. so it like useless and now there starting is icc to op post i mean comeone people just play the game it already messed up enough more bashing about other factions is just really not helping the game. instead of focusing on stupid stuff why not think of stuff to help game play (THAT DOES NOT INVOLVE NERFING OR BASHING ANOTHER FACTION). don't be a problem be a solution and with that i close my post on this fourm got other post to annoy people to killl planet to cap you know.

If you can't be a solution, then be a warning.

Tellaris said it. Kluth are not OP. With the proper forces deployed, you can detect and destroy us.
That being said, we're not stupid too. We can observe the forces stacked up against us and choose our fights. If a Kluth jumps into a fight against forces arrayed as what Tel has described, then he's a noob. In fact, he's a dead lobster noob.

Anyone ever try wolfpacks of ECM equipped Corvettes/Frigates? What are they going to do, ECCM you and raise their own signature?

We don't even need to target you. Your exhaust trail gives you away. We'll pump up our own ECM and leave little presents lying around in space. You can't see us, we can't target you, but we can see you. And most importantly you won't see our little presents until the point where your exhaust trail comes close enough.

In my experience (ie since 2002) ihave seen the evolution of how one faction will gain power over another through the updates. this current state of DS has been form what i have see the most balanced of them all. Each faction has their strengths. Kluth; Cloke and ahr, ICC: Shields and Long range weponry, UGTO ; Armour and heavy projectiles. i have played for each faction before settling in my little niche in DS world.
Sure that cloke option for luth is nice, but it drains power fast too. If you dont watch out you will die quick. Same goes for ICC the shields eat power too. But ICC hav ethat advantage over UGTO when fighting luth of the agile nature of thier ships the moment theur out o range of the Kluth diruptors they can allow their shields to recharge. UGTO does not have that ability. We (when we get our act together) rely on tactics and team work. We must trust that our designated supply ships will be there when we start to lose hull. But each faction needs to relize that no one faction is greater than another. We need to play towards the strengths that we are given. If im not mistaken a ICC missle spam is quite effective at keeping any faction at bay. And a Kluth Cloked Dread attack is enough to make someone wet themsleves, and a UGTO Station and Dread Assault (properly coordinated) is enough to push any force back. play to your strength gentleman...and ladies.

While it's possible to very effectively counter the K'luth advantages, it's not very rewarding. ECCM scouts will get next to zero prestige for their work, regardless of how good they are. Even in a picket or escort destroyer, you may be a god of beacons and the key to the whole team, but at the end of the day you gain a tenth of the prestige your dread friends do.
Now, people make decisions on what to fly on an individual basis. This is a game of ranks and prestige, people will be strongly biased towards anything that achieves that goal.
You might say, "but if someone grabs a destroyer everyone will get more prestige!". True, but the destroyer pilot will get less. Are you going to be that pilot? It's a classic prisoner's dilemma, where individual choice leads to the least efficient result - if one person grabs a destroyer everyone might get 1000 prestige and the destroyer 100. But if the destroyer grabs a dread he gets 400 and so does everyone else. The choice for this potential destroyer pilot is clear.
The other argument may be that new players should grab these small ships. Unfortunately with the speed we move through ranks now, it's unlikely anyone will spend any significant time using those ships out of necessity. And as soon as something with more damage comes out they're better off in that.
I've long felt that combat prestige is too limited. A lot of things happen in combat that aren't direct hull damage. It would have been better if as damage was done to a ship, the combat points (or at least a portion of them) were distributed among those friendly ships near or recently involved in action against the hurt ship. By their proximity and use of their various skills, specialised ships like the interdictors, scouts and ASW destroyers would be rewarded for helping the dreads do damage. Some variety would be encouraged as everyone would benefit.
As it stands, only those people not interested in gaining any prestige would consider flying these specialised ships. And the K'luth faction will continue to benefit greatly from the fact that there is no individual incentive to try counter them. [ This Message was edited by: Lonectzn on 2010-05-18 05:47 ]

grouping will fix everything, people will want to fly those dicos and beacon scouts, because they will benefit from the grouping system.

Or... the prestige scoring system can be modified now.
Combat is a major part of DS, but it shouldn't be the only aspect or source of getting decent prestige.
For every ship caught in the dico field, pres will be awarded by the second or minute.
Increase prestige for beaconing.
Incentives, incentives.....

Yes ICC could do with more hitting power maybe, but when i'm bored and know i can't fight in a cruiser, thats what a Stealth Vett is for, thats one really fun ship and i think need's to be more used, in packs i think it really could hurt alot.

I've been saying the same thing myself ever since I started flying a Sensor Corvette with ECCM swapped for ECM, more firepower than the Stealth Corvette and same overall performance otherwise. I've managed to get some people in RR to try it and every time we've utterly obliterated anything we've come across that didn't instantly run away, player or AI. We even had one guy deck out his 'vette with 7 weapon multiplexers and a purple engine trail because he was having so much fun with it once he gave it a try.
