This is a problem that has plaged me for many months now. Everytime there is a major software upgrade I have a problem. It occurs when I either select play or update. A window pops up, loads local catalog, requests file catalog and then stalls durring the download of the files. Currently I'm requesting 222 files. I've tried to run the DS server first thinking that might solve my problem. Nope. Everytime, it stalls saying "Lost connection to server!" Now, your saying "Well dummy, it's your firewall, open it up and let us though. " I have done so. I have a d-link DI-804 as my gateway. There are no other machines between my nic (D-Link DFE-530TX+ PCI Adapter with the newest drivers) and the DSL modem. I opened up the port ranges and also opened up the DMZ for this purpose. This is all I can do. At this point I am very frustrated. I no longer can just remove the gateway temporarily for the upgrade. What am I to do? I am close to throing in the towel on otherwise good software. Is it too much to ask to use a different protocol for this operation? Please advise ASAP.

You don't need to open any ports or make your machine DMZ to download updates..

You might try switching your ISP, since they are the most likely cause.

Otherwise, you might have a very old version which did have a bug in the socket code.. download the latest installer, and go from there..
