Appreciate if someone with a working 9700 could help me..
I'm using the Omega 2.4.72 drivers on windows 98. When I'm in te game and it's just me, or just me and a few other ships, everything runs fine (300 fps  ). However when there's any weapons fire my game lags up horribly, even sitting in space by myself firing sabots drops my framerate from 300 down to 0. Results with the standard ATI drivers are even worse, the game is unplayable at any time.
If anyone's running XP with this vid card and can give me some feedback that'd be great too.. I don't like XP, and won't upgrade (again) if I don't have to, but I was running XP for a short time and IIRC I didn't have this problem...

Well I dont have a 9700 but i do run a 7500 with the same driver set with no problems on xp. Maybe you should try uninstalling and reinstalling, If not then it may be a DirX9win 98 Problem. If you have win2000 try it on that.

I have the 9700 with the driver that came with the card and Win 98 on the system I play DS on. I haven't noticed any problems so far. I also have the most recent DirX. Maybe try a different driver to see if that really is your problem or it might be something else.
