FAQ says: reason: remainings of old driver version installations.

might be true but

I want to add:

I have a fresh win2k, just had to reinstall that weekend.
(boy, can't tell how much I love the
install * procedure)

--> EXACTLY ONE driver installed.
even scannned registry if sometihng strange regarding driver dupes etc.
nothing.

still getting this "bug"

getting each resolution like 10 times.

spec: radeon & win2k

I don't say that this is an important thing
but it's for SURE not true that old driver installations are the only reason for it.
I definitly have no old driver installation and getting it.

I could be wrong, but I don't think drivers are placed in the registry.

I think they are stored in the windows directory, windows automatically enumerates them.

As You updated your drivers from older to new ones ... registry setting from older wasn't wiped ... So you can see 6 times 1024*768*32 which are same ... Correctly looking values for one resolution are 16 and 32 bit colour depth ...each one time ... [i noticed this with some detonators from nvidia only]

that's what the faq says.

of course the drivers themself aren't stored in registry

but some driver settings are stored in registry.
