I found the newer link to lua.. WAY easier to understand then the Lua reference manual.

Check that new link, I learned lua using those tutorials. Was gonna advise Chrom to post it in the "things you need" thread, but forgot the link. It's really much easier than the manual, well documented with plenty examples.

The problem with "learning by example" is that you tend to follow predefined patterns, without ever using everything (and more effective things) the language has to offer. Those things are in the reference manual.. as its a complete reference.
The reference manual isn't meant to the "THE reference" for people who are new to programming. It is "THE" thing to read when being new to Lua.
