Darkspace : First Contact was the first piece of historical fiction released in late 2002. The fiction is non-canon and is based on the K'luth description in the Factions page.

Half a year later, Darkspace : Exathra, the sequel to First Contact, also non-canon, was released. Exathra was based loosely on the Palestar fiction "Defenders of Cephid" found in the game manual.

The two stories deal with the discovery of the K'luth in Sirius, and the events following that fateful moment...

Darkspace : Exathra, the sequel to First Contact, has just been released exclusively at Darkspace Interdiction

As the massive UGTO Fleet defeats the ICC in battle after battle, a contigency plan is hatched by the ICC commanders at Exathra. A plan to wipe the UGTO out, a plan for total reversal of the fortunes of the war.

But their time is running out. The UGTO juggernaut is already on their doorstep. The invasion of CD*36 has already begun.

The UGTO panic when contact with the system of Epsilion Eri is lost completely. Suspecting something, a portion of the UGTO fleet is removed to investigate.

Fearing the worst, UGTO Admirals abandon the ICC campaign and set up a defence at the Delta Cephid system. It holds a key artifact, an artifact that will decide the entire fate of the war...
