Machinations is the first ever Darkspace fiction to be written which does not contain a space battle, ground battle, or combat of any kind.
The story is divided into three chapters. The first and third chapters have been designed to provide the setting of the story, with the second chapter containing the material. This results in two short chapters surrounding a much longer one.
