ok, so there i am, playin DS, when, out of no where, BAM! i get the BlSOD, the evil twin of the BSOD, it's not blue, it's black... i have reason to believe that when my comp crashes to this black screen, it has something to do with my sound card... mainly due to the loud static and clicking noises coming over my speakers... here is my system config...

AMD Athlon XP 1800+ running at ~1.67Ghz
Microstar MS-6390 MB
512 PC2100 DDR RAM
Windows XP Pro (With all critical updates and drives updates)
Gainward Nvidia Geforce4 Ti2400 64Mb (newest drivers from Nvidia website)
SoundBlaster Audigy Gamer (latest drivers also)
DriectX 9.1a

any ideas?

I would do a system restore .what ever day you feel it was running right on the calender.start ,all programs,Accessories, system tools, all the way down ...system restore.think of a time that it was okay..then follow and restore it to that point ..with W XP pro this is your first step ..

Next step would be ,reinstall DX9 ,and unistall nvidia drivers then reinsatall them to a newer better driver at

44.67 is the driver you want

thing about DX9 is ,,it ties directly to the sound card
