Using kill ratio for a ribbon is not a good idea, as kills do not matter. I like the idea though, but just use the existing badges, nothing else. So then getting better combat points gets you an AD that can mount a reactor, or with support badge a supply with 3 reloads... would be kinda cool.

I think it IS A good idea.
People who are wreckless, Sd alot, waste ships attacking enemy fleet alone, etc. Those that Generaly play "bad" have a bad death/kills ratio.

People who use their head more most of the time have a good Kills Death ratio. So the reward for that is a good idea.

Oh and Death/Kills might not count on your profile but it does say something about the player
So is some way it does matter.

More badges is good anyway

Correction: Kills don't matter to YOU. They do to me.

It would also provide a bit more motivation to tranny/monster-farm.. though hopefully AI ships will get some other sort of scoring system in the future.

Not a bad idea, though...

NPC transports shouldn't count toward prestige or kills, period. I don't understand this... I know that they didn't count toward pres/kills at some point in the past, but they've been re-enabled? So, now people are told by the RoC not to farm them when you could skip all that and simply make them not count.

Insane.

Hey Shig. You've got replacements for the missing medals from both myself and Geo. Surely you could upload one set and fix the problem. Why the delay?

Three main reasons:

1. All changes are only being displayed on the beta server, so even if I did change it, you wouldn't see it until the patch comes out and the webserver is updated.

2. I haven't gotten official authorization to change anything yet. So far, I'm just testing things for demonstrations of what we should change.

3. I haven't had much time lately to make changes or push for authorization.

The Devs are discussing my proposals for profile changes, so hopefully sometime soon here we can get some changes going.

Sorry for the delay.. I'll keep you updated.

Isn't it a simple matter of uploading the new images to the image server? At least so we see the proper medals on the website profile. (Not neccessarily in game) You know, to here:

not a bad idea HG. If that got implemented tho, i guess my jump a station into a pack of dreads and space bar like crazy tactic that i use in FA will have to go out of the window tho.

Maybe u could change it so the deaths to kills ratio factors in SDing at *2 and deaths at *1. That way, more SDs will drop your ratio.

I like that idea. Anything that shafts filthy self-destruct abusers is a good thing.

Well... if we're replacing images, then yes, that's about all it would require. If I'm adding anything, then it would also require a change to the code on the profile page to display the new badge.

And I only have access to the beta webserver; even if I were to update the images, it wouldn't show up until the release webserver (the one everyone sees) is syncronized to the beta one (ie, when the patch is released). If you wanted it updated now, it would require Faustus' intervention, which I doubt will happen.

So you'll have to wait for the patch (yeah, I know you're getting tired of hearing that), whatever changes may occur (as none have yet).

I like it HellGremlin.

Like Barth said, any extra incentives are a good idea.

(I still think a Dictor Medal/Badge should be introduced somehow too Really not sure how it would be done, but still...)

AI kills should be discredited completetly IMHO.
