this sounds rather like a special setup in the securitytab in properties of the drive or the programs folder. if u would have only "user" priviledges and no other setting are customized a sysdialogbox would pop up when starting installing which ask u to type in user/password of an admin account to start the installation.

1st go into start->settings->users. check what type of accountpriviledges u have with ure login. for installing u should be at least poweruser. if that is the case next paragraph can apply, otherwise skip it and ask ure father to install the game or change ure priviledge.

to find it out just highlight the program folder - rightmouseclick and click on the securitytab. if u get the message "u can only view the settings bla bla bla " and after hit ok everything is greyed out, try to find a location where u can create a folder (like 2nd HD or partiton) or if u have an external drive like scsi/firewire/usb or networkdrive, even a jazdrive will work, where u can install the ds folder. in that case modify the installpath in the setup dialog.

i played a bit with special securitysetups for particular folders/drives and screwed it up once that much that noone could access it at all. had to connect the drive to another comp with serveros to change the the ownership to everybody...

btw do NOT install anything from an installer located on the desktop which means it is located physicly in the personal folder of the account u logged in. if someone delete ure account the installationprogam is deleted as well.
that might even be the reason why u cannot install DS correctly.
