whos ever read the series of books by david weber.
you know the books like crusade, insurrection, in death ground and the shiva option.
it kinda reflects ds in a way.
just want to know if any1 every read it

You should Raiders, IMHO In Death Ground is better than any Harrington book, currently.

i found the early HH books to be better then the later with the exception of wAR OF hONOR wich i liked. He is a great author all his stuff is worth reading.

david weber is one of my favorite authors, i have a number of books written by him and enjoyed reading them all.

i havent read any of those books, but im almost done with a book called Primary Inversion by Cathrine Artiso. it reminds me a lot of DS as well. they use things like MiRv bombs and they're is 3 factions in this game as well. i highly suggest you read it

When I was in Maryland for my 5 year high school reunion -- given, I live in Michigan right now...it was a long drive. Anyway. At one of the malls there, I wandered into a Waldenbooks which was *quite* empty. There was a lady sitting at a table with a bunch of sci-fi books I hadn't read. Apparently Ms. Catherine Asaro was there to do a book signing but Waldenbooks failed to advertise it. Long story short, I got all her books up through Quantum Rose signed . It was kinda sad, seeing her there and hardly anyone at all in the store or even the mall. But she said it was a nice break, heh. Got to talk with her for a good half hour. She has a doctorate in physics...actually, here's a quick little biography from a fan site...
"Oakland, California native Catherine Asaro received a doctorate in physics from Harvard University. She has published a number of papers on theoretical physics and was a physics professor until 1990, when she established Molecudyne Research, which she currently runs. A former ballerina, she has performed with ballets and in musicals on both coasts, and founded the Mainly Jazz Dance program at Harvard. She now teaches at the Caryl Maxwell Classical Ballet. Her husband is John Kendall Cannizzo, an astrophysicist at NASA. They have one daughter and live in Columbia, Maryland."
Oh yeah...I'm also a huge Weber fan, as I keep pestering Gideon to read  . Maybe it's bad for the dev team to read great sci-fi, they'd be inclined to steal ideas .

BTW Sandal: Starfire is a boardgame Weber and someone else worked on a while ago, think the books came from that or vice versa...

I read DAVID WEBER. Have all the books to the STARFIRE line of books. Found a niche to work from, and decided to write a bit of fan-fic to work on my writing skills, and just for entertainment. The first one I wrote is after SHIVA OPTION. INSURRECTION actually takes place after that one, as story line goes, even though there is the print date discrepancy.
The StarFire line goes as follows: CRUSADE--IN DEATH GROUND--SHIVA OPTION--INSURRECTION (Webers 1st book, but this is its placement based on time and setting)--
What Im working on is after the above, and as said, for entertainment and nothing more. For those morons who think I would try to steal something like a great story from the great DW, I'd rather shoot myself in the foot.
The 2 I do got, thoug the names I shall not mention, the first ended it at 287 pages....now got a final piece in the works...currently 100 pages (approx. 33% of total length). Wont settle for anything less than 300 pages. The current one gave me ideas for an original RACE, and ALLIANCE to use in a book I plan on writing as an original works.
Thanks to DAVID WEBER, I'm an aspiring writer now. Go figure.
For those who may ask. I am writing for entertainment for my ownself, and give full credit to Weber for the storyline and all. I just added a couple things and increased the scale of things, by say, from within galaxy...lets just say the MILKY WAY is no longer the sky limit.
Anyway...good to see that some fellow DS players read his books. My sig btw you may recognize from one of his books. That sig is now the very one i use for all my gaming accounts. Sums up my gamers personality very well.
