I've got the same mobo I think. try the obvious..disable on board mobo sound in bios, update direct-x, update sound drivers and video too, then reinstall.

Same here. I've got some let's say non-standard codecs installed. Errors and Clicks often sound like Bleep Bloop's and ships make an annoying grinding gurrrr sound, like a sound clip has locked up in a small loop.
I wish I knew how to fix it, otherwise, I'll just play without the sound.

you tried removing the additional codecs? compared to the problems we got with Metaverse & Scenario servers.. this codec thingy is kinda low priority

i have the same problem
bleeps like some alien device

but i dont have anny aditional codec's installed
i just have my soundcard drivers and a general Divx 5.02 installed
i have got a onboard soundcard (laptop)
and it stil worked about 3 monthes ago perfect normal and beta

so i have a nice and soundfull comeback
hopefully this codec problem wil be resolved shortly

i got that problem too because i installed lots of different codecs lately.

Isnt there anyone who knows EXACTLY WHICH codec causes this? i dont want to uninstall every single codec until i found the right one.

looks like ive got to cancle my subscription and quit darkspace until someone finds a solution. it isnt playable anyway atm because the lags are horrible and the userbase is stagnating.

Aye this is definately the problem, just reinstalled my computer and as usual put the nimo pack on it, started DS and sound was all whacked, so since that was the only codec pack i had installed i removed it and it was all fixed

i did some research and found out that the nimo codec pack contains the following audio codecs:

- Coder & decoder DivX WMA Audio V4.2 (Standard)(divxa32).
- Coder & decoder MPEG-Layer 3 Audio V4.2 (Professional)(l3acm), With control panel icon.
- Decoder for AC3 Audio V2.2.
- DivX AC3 Prologic ActiveX filter
- The iviaudio.ax : InterVideo Audio Decoder ActiveX filter (No limit time)
- The Morgan Multimedia Stream Switcher (To change the audio stream in WMP)
- MPEG Layer-2 Audio Decoder
- MPEG Layer-3 Audio Codec for MSACM
- DirectSound 3D Renderer (with help files)
- Cyberlink PowerDVD 3.0 Audio Decoder
- Ogg Vorbis Audio codec for MSACM
- Lame_dshow.ax (Lame mp3)
- Windows Media Audio Codec
- Lame MP3 Encoder ACM Codec
- Lame MP3 Encoder ACM 0.3.0
- Fraunhofer Vob Filters
- Fraunhofer Mp3 codec

any idea which of these codecs could be responsible?

(an answer from the dev team would be quite helpful now)
