Heres an idea to help make those revolting planets easier to get back under control and and be a lil more realistic. When a planet revolts all the inf should be killed off cause lets face it a good soldier is not going to revolt against the goverment giving him a steady pay check (i know i wouldnt ) so they would fight back and try to quell the revolt. if they should fail they would either be killed by the populace or taken prisoner they wouldnt just go oh hey lets try beinmg yellow for a while. so that means right after a planet revolts it will have very few inf cause it will have to build new loyal ones. thus if u act quickly the revolt is staunched ( wich is how it would sort of happen if this were real life but hey who can say). just another of my ideas to make the game funererer.

Think if a planet is revolting then some of the building should be lost…cause in a revolt fights do happen so why not planet damage.

Better yet, instead of instantly making the planet switch side to neutral, the planet would have 40-70% (rounded up) of it's infantry change to neutral, which would then fight against the infantry loyal to the old power for the control of the planet.
Of course, while the battle rages a 3rd party could sieze the opportunity of the temporary chaos to snatch the planet. Or the faction that controlled the planet could 'send the cavalry' (bring more faction troops to the planet) to crush the rebellion before they capture the planet.

I agree that rebellion could use some tweaking.
I think modern history has proven military coups are all to common, even in democracies, Pakistan,Burma,Chile to name a few.
When you consider both ICC and UGTO are closer to Anarcho-Capitalist Oligarchies where political power lies with the military and the wealthy. And Kluth are essentially a Meritocratic Theocracy, rebellion would seem very to me very likely. My thoughts on rebellion in game terms.
As the moral of a planet falls units of troops become disloyal (a hidden attribute of each unit).
Elite are more loyal than Hardened, Hardened more loyal than Veteran, etc.
At some point after more troops are disloyal than loyal the coup occurs. The disloyal troops become rebels (yellow).
The rebellious faction gains control of the planet in the normal way because of superior numbers.
A fight ensues between the loyal and disloyal rebel troops and continues until one faction has total control. In the event of no player intervention, this would typically be the more numerous rebel troops.
A player can intervene to put down the rebellion by landing loyal troops, in the normal way an invasion is carried out. However unless a player addresses the under lying moral problem, the disloyalty will return and a new rebellion will occur.
This is largely based on normal game mechanics, offers more depth to rebellion. I think this would encourage and reward earlier player intervention and temper against just bombing the planet into the stone age which is the common solution to disloyal/rebel planets.
p.s. Shouldnt this be 'planets revolting', after all a dank dingy swappy planet whould be a 'revolting planet' but could be absolutely loyal.

Sometimes the Military revolts against its government if they feel they are poorly paided or treated...
F and I talked sometime back about a more realistic revolt system where the planet goes into revolt and half the population or military switches and the other half remains friendly...
The computer then battles itself for control. This buys you time to land more troops to try and quell the revolt.
Barracks would go offline during revolts as a self balancing mechanism.
This is just one of the ideas we are tossing about.

It would also be good to have some kind of log of these events so why can see why we have lost a planet.
For example yesterday VA controlled neptune today we do not.
Was it invaded, did it revolt, was it plagued etc. If there was a web log page of server messages for the las 24 hours, i.e. I could find out.

I'm glad I wasnt the only one to think that was dangerously off-topic.
