As someone who is partially colour blind (mild red/green colourblindness) I have great difficulty distinguishing between the light green unknown planets and the yellow captured planets. (in fact, i never actually knew there was a difference until a friend mentioned it in passing)

As far as i can tell, there would be nothing stopping the change for neutral/unknown planets from green to a different colour, such as blue. Or at least an option to do so!

would help me a lot

Currently Neutral planets are Yellow and Friendly ones are Green... you do have a point however, even if you are the only one with this problem (which i doubt), i petition to change it as well.

I am against changing colors....simply because it would only irritate people and there are bad eyes for any color

By far the most people who are color-blind aren't able to see (and therefore distinguish composite colors of) *either* Red or Green. (Which make Yellow)

So, Blue would make a lot of sense, i guess.

Percentage of Population affected by dyschromatophiatic defects:

gender causasian asiatic others
male 8.0% 5.0% 3.0%
female 0.5% 0.5% 0.5%

So, this is far from negligible.

Make the interface customizable. Independent settings for the different factions: ICC, UGTO, kluth and unknown. 16-color palette would be sufficient. Provide a "DS classic" mode which would default to what we have now. Add something to the setup routine, store the choices in config.ini and put some variables where the colors used to be hard-coded. Doesn't sound too hard but then again, I don't have to do it.

It does tell you if it is your planet or an enemy's you know

And I don't know if you just got mixed up, or this is because of your color blindness, but Neutral planets are yellow

Would be a great idea if they incorperated customizable colors. BUT as a quick solution Blue wouldnt be a bad idea to replace a neutral planet. As I myself, to my knowledge, am not color blind in any degree and I sometimes find it hard to distingish between yellow and green.

How about we have different shaped indicator marks for planets and ships/missiles. Planets could be square, or triangles.

I think there is a way to change the shapes (only think so because of the daily screenshots), but I never investigated how to change it.
