Hot on the heels of the Station Killing contest, the Event Staff has a contest to announce.
I'm sure you've all logged onto the site to see our lovely home page, with its bright and ICC-laden banner image across the front page. I mean, of course, this charming image:
While this image is admittedly quite nice, there comes a time in a website's life when the same old banner image just gets a bit old. Call it a mid-life crisis for the home page. So, because I happen to be the website's agent and best friend, I have taken up the task of asking you fine folk - the gaming community - to help me out with sprucing things up.
The contest is such: Create a new banner.
The dimensions should be close to the current version (600x130), though they can vary within a bit (smaller has a much greater range to vary in). Size should be up to about 60k, though if its an image, it should be possible to get it smaller than that.
Format can be gif, jpeg, png, or swf. That's right - flash images are acceptable.
The reward is having your image across the front page. But only if we like it. That is, banners that are too flashy or too ugly (ie, the Tony the Pony signature image pony), or just don't seem to fit the page won't make the cut. The judges will be the Event Staff.
If you have some other brilliant idea for a reward, let me know. I'll consider it.
Deadline is never; I'll accept these images forever. If you come up with a more creative reward, I might put a deadline on that, but the images can be given as you find more exciting screenshots.
And you can either post them here, or email them to me (shigernafy@palestar.com). If you do that, I'll post it for you, just so everyone can see, but its handy for those without hosting.

My idea was that I'd have a script that would make the image rotate - each time you load the page, there's something different there (tricksy, eh?). There's always a bit of excitement to loading the home page, that way...
But we'll have a contest on which we think is the best, and they'll win the prize.. but the rest will get thrown in the cycle as well.

I have the best banner for the website, hands down. Theres no question about it.
After all, what self respecting player wouldn't cast their vote for Rogue Spear in the upcoming Mod-vote? This is a way to secure our solidarity and ensure the general browsing public knows that Rogue Spear is on their team and looking out for the little guy.

You can have some writing on there if you want. Its really up to you. However, you might want to have a copy of the image without writing as well, just in case we want that (instead or as well).
Otherwise, I have no specific kind of banner in mind, so do what you will. I leave it up to your creativity.
