Looks to me like were talking about a simple touch-up to some of the graphics in DS.

I personally like this idea, the accuracy could be a little off though, to balance out with the damage ratio, this way when fleets go to hit one another, you see the beam cannons fire first, then the CL and Reg weapons ^_^

N'kra, just spread evil and vile things to his GF...

As for beam weapons, the only way i support this is if, they are massive NRG, forward only (no tracking AT ALL, u move your ship itll stop hitting your target) and if they have extreme range (700-800gu)

oh ya, and stations, scouts, frigates cant get them. assault destroyer, only dessey to be able to use them.

Yeah, the main big damage beam would be like that hopefully, but in Freespace there was also a little slasher beam thing.

My ship! I love Deimos!

I hate to break it to you but there is no Deimos in that image. There's an Orion, a Cain, and a Sovek.

This is a Deimos.

OMG! I'm such a nerd!

Bah, those aren't even lasers to begin with

All we'd have to do is simply make the cl1000s & 2000s deal LOTS more damage and have much slower tracking, as well as slower ROF and bam, beam cannons
