I try my best not to get sucked into friend list messaging, but it happens to the best of us. I'm sorry to those who get spammed, and if you want me to take you off my list, all you have to do is ask.
Normally, most people make it onto my list so I can keep tabs on them to see if they are playing or not, and I inadvertantly spam the hell out of them. Just the other day, I was talking to little_chaoz and Banshee and Valerius asked me to take him off my list. Whoops.
So, uh, there is my tangent of the day!

It seems you can't remove yourself from moderators' friends lists, only regular players' lists.
