did you de-installed DS and all related stuff

then cleaned up the registry

then re-installed DS

???

I haven't done that yet. I am not sure what to clean out of the registry or really how to go about cleaning it out.

it's a bit difficult for me, to explain it in english - because i am german-speaking by nature (and so, my OS's are in german too) but i try

if you click on START, you find on the pop-up-list a field, named EXECUTE
after clicking on it, you type regedit and end it with enter (return)

now, you are in the heart of your program's

IMPORTANT
before you continue, create a secured copy of the current registry (you can do that with the tools in the registry / check the pull-down-menues)

after this copy is made (and save stored)
search throughout the registry, use the key-words

- DarkSpace (disable the "look only for the exact phrase"-function)
- Palestar

delete all registry-entrys, containing this key-words

request: if something is wrong named or so, a correction would be appreciated

You explained it very well. the only thing is we have run instead of execute.

Well that didn't work. I cleaned out my registry then reinstalled. It didn't change a thing.

I'm updating to the latest versions of the MFC/MSVCRT libraries in both the lobby and the client.

Try again, after the next update, hopefully tomorrow..

Here is what I do, before I get on DS, I shut down all other programs that aren't needed, if that means alt-control-delete them, that's what I do. I disable the auto protect of my virus scanner, even close my firewall(not safe, but it helps this problem)

After doing this I will still get the errors, usually when clicking on a server I want to join, but I don't get them nearly as much as I do when I leave everything running.

hope that helps

I have tried that before. It did nothing. Not to mention it isn't memory that I am missing. It is the program doing an illegal operation that causes it to crash.

The program is still crashing. I think that my computer might just not like darkspace or something.

ok Guys i got 2 Fixes starting with the ez one

1: Uninstall SP2 by going to ADD/REMOVE programs and find Service Pack 2 then Uninstall it.

2: Uninstall Darkspace then Reinstall to same folder if u dont get the locked msg's when u try to uninstall if u get the locked msg's reinstall to a new folder and run super server, then for both set your Config file in your darkspace Directory to
........................................................................................................................
[GCQL]
doupdate=0
[CLIENT]
doupdate=0
........................................................................................................................
YOU MUST REDO THE doupdate=0 in your config file EACH time and when u loggoff a server QUICKLY cancel the update or you will have to redo the previous mentioned steps

p.s. hope this helps guys
