everything was working great until the last patch (10/20/2004) which jacked up my DS GCQL client. every time GCQL tries to load it causes an MFC application error in module corememory.dll -- this specifically happens on all computers I have that are running Windows XP with SP2 patch. are all people using XP with SP2 having this same problem or is it just me ?

some one pls help or write a new patch or something I just subcribed for 3 months for me and my nephew and we can't play this game now that its patched.

I get the same thing, or when I try to connect to the lobby the pathcer gets stuck on connecting to port 9100. I can load the tutorial just fine. I was able to play first thing this afternoon after I downloaded the release version to try the game out before deciding if it's worth it.

I've uninstalled the game, removed registry entries that relate to darkspace and palestar, rebooted, and then reinstalled. I still get the same error you are getting.

I do notice that even if I hit cancel on the patcher while it's stuck trying to connect to the lobby, that my gcql.exe proccess stays up around 95% indefinitely, until I end the process manual in the task manager.

I'm currently using Windows XP, SP2, 2.8 P4, 1 gig of ddr ram, 256 MB NVidia 5600.

make sure when you installed XP, it didn't reset XP's inbuilt firewall to block whatever the heck it feels like

dunno how to fix it, don't use XP.

I have similar issues, however my computer operating system is different than what you guys have. So I don't know if its caused by the same thing.

I get the freeze on the Port 9100, also. However I'm able to log on using a different method.

I'm just curious, what happens when you guys try and run the program off the task bar, "Darkspace-Server?"

SP2 shouldnt be causing the problem...I know people on normal XP who are having this problem....it DOES seem to be an XP only problem...try setting all EXE's in the ds folder to win98 compatiblity mode.

I can't even get past the "Connecting" screen when you hit Play in the splash screen. It doesn't freeze, but it just sits there and doens't do anything.

Not an issue with the xp firewall as I refuse to use that sad excuse of a firewall. I'll try the compatability mode though. The odd thing is that it did work this morning/early afternoon just fine.

Well reinstalled the app and did as you suggested, using compatability mode for the exe's in the darkspace directory. Unfortunately when I went through the patching process I still got the GCQL.exe MFC error, with the bug reporter wanted me to send the bug in.

When I run the darkspace.exe the Client updater gets stuck at Connecting to "mirror-server.palestar.com: 9100", and my gcql.exe takes up 98%+ of my cpu usage, even after I hit cancel on the patcher.

I can still get into the tutorial and the server startup just fine. It appears to be something when I try to go into the lobby.

It's really a shame, because the 20 minutes I got to play today was a blast

Same problem here. Have XP with SP2, but I get an error saying server is down or full. Worked fine this afternoon. Removed and reloaded Darkspace and tried changing the compatability settings.....neither of which had any effect.
