theres a catch to useing the same account  which is if one of you messes up you both suffer although if you have the same comp it dosent really matter which one of you messes up (if you do) both accounts get smcked.
so theres 2+ sides to everything

And should you get a 2nd computer, you can't share a single account (play at the same time).

I validated my email on my demo acount, but havent gotten a coupon. Is it an instant response thing, or should I wait a while?

Like most email services, you can sometimes find you need to wait a few hours for them to arrive. It should be there soon. If your 14 day coupon doesn't arrive within 24 hours then there may be some unforseen problem.
We advise that you don't redeem the coupon if there is a Free Trial imminent or in progress as you would be effectively wasting it.
