When playen Beta, I noticed that the resources took forever. Everytime that I had harvested materials for the big ship, the Station, to see what it had and what improvement there was… well… Waiting until 5 minutes to the end of the game scenario to get the "Station" only to see that the Caterpillar grew into a infant snail... with no new defenses or armor. Disappointment. Shouldn't a station have more beefy protection? Since it is slow...er, should not the offensive weapons been upgraded and increased? My whole objective in this game was to fly one of those things and reap my rewards for the accomplishments of attaining the Fleet Admiral status. I do like the Escort Dessy. It’s nice.

The Dreads… Why would a Dreadnought of that size, which is half of the Station, be so restricted in speed? All the Dread became was a Half pint “mini” station. Max speed of 5gu. If you replaced the I.E. engines, shouldn’t the speed increase? I noticed that the Proton Fusion Engine is now 8 minutes to build and is probably more energy efficient/productive. Am I right? Nice armor improvements, but IF these ships roll out of the Shipyard with beefy armor and shields, why not be able to build them at factories also?

I really like the refit on cruisers and the addition to the destroyer class. I really understand the reason for a slower station, since a “station” should not be able to move… much. Which is why it’s proven here in Beta. I have tested just about all of the other ships in UGTO, and I plan on testing all the other factions.

Not all the ships have been updated yet Zeph. Check the "New ships available in beta" to see which have been. As for the speeds, I don't think they've been adjusted yet. (correct me if I'm wrong

Check the Dev Log located in the menu bar to the left. It lists the ships that have been updated already... If its not listed in the Dev Log then it has not been changed... Stations will most likely be the last ships edited.

Also, only 20 of the listed 30 ships are in the actual beta as we are waiting for the next beta update to push those out.

Tael also hasnt brung out the new drives, so speeds wont work.

All of the drives have base values, IE 25, AME 30 or whatnot, you multiply that by the hull value and you get the speed, but ass the hull masses have been increased, its automaticly been decreased.

Well get us the new drives then.... god i hope you make a fluke and a dread goes 75Gu all of a sudden and the scouts 20

I would get my "Wont stop for anyone" bumper stickers out

I think dreads are closer to 12 or 15; scouts should be breaking 40 with the high speed drives.

The rest are distributed through that range. Stations are slow.

And there was me thinking there was no friction in space. therby why would a dread go as slow as it does if it had 4 engines, i.e twice the amount an frig has. and yet half the speed.
As for testing the dreads im afraid i havent been able to, as evertime i play i have to wait two hours to get one due to planet resources and yet we never seem to get there!

Twice as heavy, requires twice the energy to move something twice the size. Simply really.

Oh Backslash, what do they teach you at british school these days. THERE IS NO GRAVITY IN SPACE, ZERO G. Therefore mass does not make a blind bit of difference.

Actually, theres IS friction in space, its just very, very minute. (Dust Particles.)

Well, I truth, being no gravitiy in space, your mass, in all truth is, 0. That means, that your speed is affected by that. Now, if that was technically true, If we hit the engines, eventually we would reach enormous speeds, basically, the engines would push us foreward, and since there is nothing to slow it down, all it does is gain more speed.

However, if DS was like that, wed have ships going 30,000 Gu/sec at some points.

However, Acceleration ISNT affected by mass, and thus the same until more thrust is provided. Also, this would mean ships would take FOREVER to slow down.

Really, acceleration ISNT affected by mass in ds...wow...

I suppose they just made the engines weaker then...

idiot

Oh Downey, this is a game, not real life.
