Okay, I've thought of something now. As incredibly difficult as it is to not make some very blunt and cutting remarks at the blatent hard-headedness and outright arrogance of our good Mr. Vore here, I'll just give some very basic-level advice that you should have been taught since you were a small child (strong urge for another sarcastic remark here).

Respect your elders.

Most of the people here have been around a lot longer, or at least had a heck of a lot more in game experience than you, dear sir.

While it is perfectly alright for anyone to make suggestions about the game, it is also prudent to heed the words of more experienced players who know more about the mechanics of gameplay than yourself.

To be frank, most of your suggestions seem geared to get you out of subscribing. You want to soup up small ships - scouts, frigates, engineers, etc. - to allow them to stand up to a dread? Guess What?

Scouts, frigates and engies aren't supposed to be able to stand up to a dread.

If you're flying a frigate, and you're... silly... enough to get within range of a dread, and get shot by it, you die. That's what happens to small ships that get close to a 1km-long chunk of steel bristling with huge guns and lasers.

So stop offering suggestions to circumvent the fact that you're too lazy or poor to pay for the game to get some decent ships of your own.

Although from what I have heard about BETA, it would seem alot of your post has already been dealt with.

Now as for frigates standing up to a dread. This should NEVER HAPPEN.
You have a little ship, light armor, and few weapons. The dread is 50 times larger ship than yours with enough guns and armor to make a frigate wet itself. I have no problem with 10 frigates ganging up and damaging a dread, but it sounds to me like you want to do it by yourself. And this is just not going to happen, sorry.

Dreads are not bullies, they are very vulnerable at this point. Take a good AC Pilot and put him against at least a desent EAD one, and its just about an even match. I still remember when it wasn't unheard of for a gang of AC to wipe out entire fleets.

Amen to bobs post I must say

But back on the subject pof smaller ships. Smaller ships can take on a Dread, however, as in most games, its only effective in numbers. Heck, if there were 20 people on UGTO in Assault Scouts they could relatively kick anything dumb enough not to get within 250 GU before firing.

But as we know DS doesnt quite have the the numbers for that.

The fact remains is that smaller ships are supposed to serve as shields for the -- er...I mean, supposed to escorts for larger vessels. Again, however, 1 Frigate isnt going to be much good.

As for mass well, technically speaking, mass should pretty much only effect acceleration and turning speed, NOT top speed, as if the same ammount of thrust was applied continuously, eventually, Dreads, and even stations could accelerate to astonishing speeds. (As there is pretty much no friction in space generally speaking.)

But of course, if something were to accelerate to very high speeds, that mass is kinda hard to slow down (when a 4000 ton ship is going 2000gu/sec on conventional drives, cutting off the drives will still continue to cruise at that speed until something were to obstruct its path, such as a planet.)

Speaking of planets, if Sirius 1 were to ever "Accidentally" leave the orbit of Sirius A, what would happen if it were flung into another planet?

Funny post - Dreadnoughts are better than Stations but they're still mostly targets. They require much more situational awareness than a cruiser does - to survive. Flown well, they're deadly - flown by the inexperienced, they're coffins.

All the npcs are already taken out, Doran. I got to see and hunt the last of the Gaifens, but they and the entities, AND the AI controlled ships are gone. But then there's beta..

Frigates should also generate more prestige for a player since it is like a trainer ship i agree. every dread that kills a frigate needs to get 4,000 pres, and then the frig pilot learns not to get that close to dreads without someone else to take the fire

i think he meant it the other way around. as in, the frigate playing dude gets more pres...

i kinda liked ideas # 1 6 8 9 10,
but methinks he/we should wait for the patch before he/we make suggestions.

especially since he didnt specify WHO would get the pres, just that there should be more pres to be gotten

(always gotta look for those things)

i would be able to take on any dred (excluding dreds with drone bays) and beat it in a frigate

following conditions need to be there

dictor field keep the dred from jumping on top to blast of the cl / rupptor hell.

handy surply (that dont get killed by the dred)

time probaly 10 - 15 min

I got my first real glimpse of where beta is going.
Yes I've heard/read many posts over many months. Read details but it never really clicked despite playing in beta more than a few times since the beginning of the year.

It's almost like playing a new game - same name, some systems work similarly/the same -- others are completely different. Speed of ships is one of the most drastic and easy to criticize elements and now that I see what it does to fleet engagements...I love it. Huge thumbs up!

Vore - instead of being critical of your ideas - go play beta.

dreads should be able to turn on a dime... there is no resistance in space... however given mass it would require a great deal of energy to turn the ship and again to stop the ship from spinning in circles... technically you could plow through a frigate in a dreadnought and not need to shoot it... but thats the real world which this is not... and i'd venture to say dreads are slower in an effort to save energy... and you'll be hard pressed to find a game that'd allow a larger ship to fly with the ease of a smaller one

as for other suggestions.. well from the looks of things this version is all but being junked and the game overhauled... so i'd say make suggestions related to beta after playing it
