I would like see this subclass to exist ... anyone else ?
probably using some of older models "or bit older" or "lighter" looking one ...
fast. manuevrable but none launchers ... but more normal sized slots for PD
usability in UGTO / ICC is clear ... as it's purpose in fleet it will find ...

He already knows about the escourt dessy, try thinking before posting...
What he is asking about is a larger escort class ship. At this time we are not designing one specifically.
Cruisers in modern fleets dont operate in this roll. In fact what we termed Cruisers by the start of WWII were originally Dreadnaughts and Battleships before the start of WWII. When the new mammouth battleships came out, they reclassified the old ones cruisers.
So cruisers are definately ment to be ships of the line. Destroyers are the guardians of the fleet, so there are no plans to make any escourt ships above the destroyer hull.
In tests last night, 2 destroyer escorts faired pretty well against three heavily builtup planets. Though eventually running low on power (stock), they lasted a good deal of time, proving they would offer good protection to fleet manuevers operating in a bombing run or landing attack.

hmm i'm fine with the comment about using Escort Destroyers ...
but just to counter strike  in WW2 were Escort Cruisers too ... it were modified LIGHT Cruisers to provide anti air cover for Carriers...
