Point of thread: Shields in Newbie server.

Point of Divergence: Left field

The guy asked a reasonable question, and suddenly anyone who logs into newbie is a pres whore.

The issue is one of balance in the game. This should be irrelevant to the abilities of the players. It isn't looked at that way in MV that I'm aware. The flux and ELF issues are not spoken of like this. Neither is the Adv. Carrier. It's all about the game balance then.

But for some reason, this issue is different? It's about the prestige and ability of the peole logging on? As if they can turn their scout into a cruiser? The ships are the same ships, regardless of rank, up to Destroyer class. If the balance issue is what is supposed to be most important, then this is an issue which should be taken for WHAT IT IS.

Look at the newbie server, as the individual factions, on the individual maps, and remove the MV way of life from the equation. Newbies are learning and being taught how to pick up infantry and such. There is a "flow" to newbie that is uncharacteristic in the MV. It is a far more hurried game. The shields on planets should SERIOUSLY be looked at in newbie.

Otherwise, when I log onto newbie, I'll just start going to ICC first, if I can, pull an engy, rip the build, log for 2 mins, then try to spawn as K'luth.

See? There is still a workaround. I've done it before, when I was trying to teach someone to build. Kept getting MIRVed. I'm sure I'm not the only one who knows this either. Sheilds are such an advantage on THAT server, that they are equal to AM mines and Larves on MV. Worth crossing over.

Just more thoughts

Let's say you do turn off pres in Newb. Do you really believe that a Commander has a snowball's chance in Hell of surviving in the MV? I think not... but it's your game, do what you will.

Hehe, I cant even survive in the mv at times

That depends on how well they learn/listen/know their role...
