Call me when they make a model F-22 that actually has stealth coating & is actually capable of launching a mini-nuclear warhead.

I wonder how much it costs? you probably got to get special fuel..special permission to fly it..and be pretty good, cus woah thatd suck to crash that.

Dude, if you can land on a carrier deck, go for it 100%. Navy Pilots get the best of both worlds. Navy Education, flight & hazard pay, tour the ports of the world, automatic commission as an officer... the works.

Personally though, I'd try for F-18 duty so you can upgrade when the Navy's version of the F-22 comes out (or was it just the Marine's getting one?)

The engines run about 2k, each. For the kit your probably looking at 500$. For the servos, reciever and radio, your probably looking at another k. The fuel can be had at any half decent hobby store. You don't need special permission to fly it, but you DO need an asphalt strip. Which means you need to join a flying club and they require you to be insured in case you fly your plane into someone. Im not sure about the cost of a membership to such a club.

The guy probably has a minimum of 5 years of flying for something like that.

As a contrast, my plane cost me 200$ to build and fly, with a used radio. I land in fields, am not insured, and regularly dettach the wings from my aircraft upon landing.
