Someone please tell me that asteroids have been changed in beta. Seeing as how there are no 'roids in the beta map they might have been forgotten but they need to be changed. Asteroids are a planet's nightmare, extreme (well over a cloud bombing from a bomber dread) unblockable dmg that a scout can do to a planet isn't balanced at all. Planets need to be able to shoot down asteroids, and block them with shield. Either that or asteroids just shouldn't hurt planets. In release right now I can grab a scout and find a planet near an asteroid belt and decimate it easily...it's an unfair, mean tactic that shouldn't be allowed. I have some hope that they've already been looked at but the lack of 'roids in the beta map make me think they're being ignored...

It is a perfectly valid, if somewhat underused tactic.
I still love wormholing roids into systems that don't anturally have them, then causing Armageddon on that really hard to kill cluster

Actually if I remember correctly shields do stop asteroids. The shield loses like 50% but it will be back up in no time or less with more shields.

However it would be nice if the planets defended themselves with defense bases vs asteroids, I mean they defend themselves vs everything else neutral they hate the neutral warmachine of Gaifens, Crystal Entities, Energe gaifens, pirates, neutral planets of evil... So why shouldnt they launch fighters to shoot down asteroids or fire beams to blow up asteroids.

I like it this.. We should have Planetary Scanner bases that would be able to Target monsters/Asteroids.. much like Eccm.. but this would allow poorly built planets to be Vulrnable to such ingenious Attacks.

In a test of hitting a planet w/ an asteroid that had a shield (really, it was an accident...someone accidentally alpha'd a roid near a planet I had built, then offered to rebuild because of it) the shield dropped to 30% (from 100%, 1 roid) and the planet lost 20 some odd structures...the shield took dmg and didn't do anything...I'm all for a new planetary building, replace anti-sensor since it's worthless in beta...just please allow planets to defend themselves...I mean we're thinking about how to defend from that sort of attack and we're no where near the time of DS...you'd think that a planet that can detect and target scouts going 30gu/s could detect and target roids...
