A player spends the majority of their time attempting to gain prestige. Prestige is gained in very small increments depending upon the task the player is currently involved. With the current calculations involving modded ships I am utterly frustrated. You supply, bomb, cap, or fight for prestige for hours and hours. Day after day you log into Ds to inch that much closer to the rank in front of you. You manage to gain a few hundred prestige. On a very good day you might gain 1-1.5k prestige. This would however take you the better part of 6-14 hours.

I would like to know how any player can afford to lose 5k prestige in 3 hours. Thats what 2 moded dreads and a modded station cost me. I cannot see the value in waisting hundreds of hours working on my prestige...gaining a few thousand pres..then watching it all go down the toilet for 3 ships being blown up.

The prestige loss for modded ships needs to be re-calculated. Original figures for dreads for example need to be what they were before this release. We are paying for our mods twice..once with credits..secondly with our prestige. These modded powerhouses are great but not worth their weight in prestge loss.

Alright!!!!! lets go waste another 5 weeks of prestige gain on a Modded Dread......

Be more careful with your ships and you wont lose prestige so fast.

I expected this kind of feedback. This is not a matter of getting a smaller ship..its not about being more carful with your modded ships..Ive seen dozens of lagg deaths each day...these are costing players thousands of pres loss...the credits returned for these ships are nothing. I could care less about the credits..you cant buy prestige

Wanna know a great idea? Don't die so freaking much.

Seriously. ships aren't some peices of paper you can throw away and expect nothing BAD to happen. Sure, you lag every now and then, but it happens to EVERYBODY. and I don't see EVERYBODY complaining about prestige. I mean hell, your a freaking GA. I've been VA and below for at least 2 years now. and I'm not bitching about how much prestige I get.

wait before this turns into a flame war let me explain what exactly hes saying.

Hes saying that loosing ships has a definit penalty, wich is true. this penalty is to Stop people from dieing so much. i mean think about it in terms of 483. NOT any previous version, and it fits in quite perfectly.

in 481 or 482 its unrealistic to have a huge pres loss for anything, but in 483 it IS good.

why? because dreads are huge, powerfull, bristling with weapons and expensive.

so, to save your prestiege like a lowly old admiral such as myself, youll see me flying Destroyers, cruisers, or supplys in the MV. Currently, i dont have the cash to finance a dread, and i dont have inclination to take out something so dangerous (for me and NME both) untill i get a suitable internet connection.

anyways, the bottum line is this: the player base likes hefty penalties on ships to give them Value, as apposed to "Oh hes got me beat, self D".

i mean this puts the 'hunt' back in the game, where people actually Try to get away. and we get to chase em down =).

I personnally have been an Admiral, though I have not had the opportunity to play the new release, for over a year. I already know what ships I will have in my hanger... 1 dread, 2-3 cruisers, a supply, a engy and a tranny...

I only plan on bringing out the dread in rare occasions... I find I make more pres with my Supply Ship or Engineer... Once I make the glorious rank of Fleet Admiral, then my tactical thinking will change.

Then I will have a Station, Dread, 3 cruisers, supply and Engineer...

Right now, if I understand the system, Cruisers and Destroyers have the best Pres GAIN/LOSS ration, on average.

if you do not want to loose big Pres... pilot smaller ships... or become a better combat commander for your bigger ships... I know that even though I have lost many ships only a few were to lag... mostly to my bad bombing skills!

Maybe a redefinition of your tactics would help.

its not everyone that can get an station place it at a safe distance from an enemy cluster

fire core weapons at the spawn planet and kill 10 - 20 noob ships from scout to destoyer size that spawns.

then just wh out

in the old days of DS noob farming was frown at, gues things have changed.
