but if its a pc problem, i can't understand why since im running a p4 2.6 gightz, with 1.2 gigs of memory --> with intel graphics card with 64 mb shared memory <-- on a cable modem, so it shouldn't be a pc problem with my computer right?

that is where you "create" your problem

Er, I currently run DS on a 950Mhz AMD with only 250meg of ram and a Rage128 32meg graphics card... Sure, my framerate sucks at times, but I don't lag out that often, except during server spikes of course.

Depends on the machine. Generaly, in my experience, AMD's tend to cope better with dealing with multiple IRQ's. For instance, if my machine bolts down to single digit framerates randomly, i'll still get my normal ping, because it wont lock up the machine just to power the graphics. Hence why gamers generaly chose AMD's, among other reasons.
So its probably that fact thats allowing you to run Darkspace better cold

And as a follow on Note to those (borgie included) who might not know this...
An Integrated Video Chip is NOT a Video Card but simply a Video CHIP... It uses up to 64MB of your Systems RAM... amongst other system resources...
A dedicated video card is a must in ANY game no matter what game you play... also remeber to get the best drivers for your card...
Hope your new card rocks for you, and if that card is not good enough for you then i don't know what to say.... lol

Good point rocko
Go to www.ati.com and download the latest catalyst drivers borgi and then update them when you get the card.

I'm probably stating the obvious here, but if it's a proper integrated graphics chip, you might have a hell of a hard job getting a dedicated card to work. Before you buy your new card, check the BIOS to make sure you can disable onboard video, then check your motherboard to make sure it has an AGP slot. Even if both are present, I've read that some MBs just don't like it. If it was me, I'd buy a new motherboard at the same time, they are only cheap. It depends on how technically minded you are, since it means swapping the CPU over the the new board.

well, the 9250 is a low-end Vid-Card
care, there are both types of interface around (PCI and AGP)
await to reach 1/4 to 1/3 of the FPS you would gain with a (still popular) 9700/9800 Pro
it is cheap (worth the prize-btw), but not what you should install into your system for playing (actual) games
one example:
you will gain approx. 15 FPS while playing DOOM3 low Quality at 640x480
with a p4 2.6 GHz and 1.2 gigs of RAM, the bottleneck will remain your VID-CARD

@Bumble I am using a Pentium M with Intel shared memory graphics, and I am not having lagg in a way I could complain....
