Here's my idea:

When you cap a ship, the enemy guy that was riding his ship, finds himself in his homegate, and since you've capped his ship, you find his ship in your garage.

So basiccly if me, Ugto, caps an Icc Escort dessie, I'll be able to fly that dessie as Ugto, sort of like the same thing that happens with weapons already, Icc or luth weapons on Ugto ship or viceversa.

Interesting point: People with friends on other faction could arrange planned capping of enemy's ships, you can easily avoid that by HEAVILY demoting in pres, people that get his ship capped. And since you'd loose a a consistent amount of pres if you have your ship capped, it is necessary to make the capping quite hard to happen.

What do you think? wouldn't that be awesome? capping others factions ships and fly them for your faction!!!!

well the very high pres loss is meant to avoid exploiting of people taking advantage of this.

If you start loosing 5-10 times the amount of pres you'd loose with a normal ship destroyed, then you'll think 10 times before exploiting the system.

You lose a lot of pres for capping a ship...

Riiiiiight...

Not capping, for being capped.

Though as there's no skill-based way to avoid being capped (ie, its random) it doesn't seem fair to lose more pres that way than for dying in battle, where theoretically skill has bearing. I don't think that would fly with a lot of people.

IMHO, it's bad enough we were able to mount other faction's technology. In games imo it's best for each faction to be a distinct and unique, not factions that are named differently but otherwise the same.

i see what hes saying if i cap kluth i should be able to fly that kluth ship, but then again there is ways around of getting a ship illegaly so.. i guess thats why its better to let the computer pilot that ship

well then perhaps instead of allowing a player to fly it make the ai on the capped ship a little more "brains" or perhaps a command system should be implemented for them. would be interesting to have a computer controlled ship covering your tail while your bombing or whatever

hmm yes probably this idea is much more intelligent.

IF you get the chance let's say, to cap a dread, you can have that dread covering you while bombing on protecting you in battles.

You can delete those, Music. I think an AI controlled buddie that you captured is a great idea. Personally I think this game needs some kind of AI. Like AI Mobs so newbies can kill somthing. I dont think the servers can handle it though. Still, AI capped ships. Great idea. Of course, youll end up seeing things like a dread followed by an entire fleet of newbie's ships. If you were to do this, id say put a limit of ships to like, 3 or somthing. That way you cant have your own privately owned army following you areound just beacuse you happen to be lucky with some infs. Oh, and you might think about an idea for planet defence ive been thinking about. Sentry Guns. You buildt them in factorys, just like weapons, then put them in your hold, fly to where you want them at, and hit Deploy. They will stay ancored to that spot, and shoot at anything that isint your Faction. Different variations for each fleet, of course. K'luth: cheaper and faster to build, but weaker. Mabye stealth. ICC: Average build time. Shield. Mabye have weaker guns. UGTO: Takes longer to build, and very expensive. Heavy armor. Decent weapons. Make the tracking slow to balance the firepower.

Now, you might have different variations. ECM, ECCM, Scout, Long range, Short range, Interdictor, EMP, Missle, Anti-Missle, Anti-Bomb, Shield Generator(For ICC), Stealth Generator(For K'luth), Orbit ability(for UGTO), Selfdestruct(mines), Repair, Reload, Energy recovery, And my personal favorite idea. It will be available to all the factions, but it will be the most expensive one of all. HUNTER-SEEKER: A variation of the Selfdestruct version, exept this one will move. When you deploy it, it will take a second to find a target. It will randomly target any enemy, and jump to their location, and detonate. Now, I dont really know how this is going to work, beacuse new players will want to know why they just blew up. But like I said, this is just an idea. I really want to hear you guy's oppinions.

I think you should just get money for capping ships...

Although I also like the idea of AI squadron-mates (a la EV Nova)

many games which allows exchange of technologies between "races" got various preventions to abuse of such exchange:

for example:

- limited use (as You are not the real owner of technology then your skill to master it is lower than original specie, so effectivity factor goes down)

- limited ammo (You cant resupply after depleting)

- repair issues (again not technology developed by You so harder to maintain or repair, easier to full destroy and loose)

- increased power usage (tapping unknown technologies into own system goes at cost of higher power needs)

- operating system / computer incompatibility ... use of alien technology can results into other system malfunctions in same moment ...

and so on

We already have faction tech that's avaiable to swap IF you can get the other factions hub... Why do we need to include ships?

I just think it's silly. Edventually, it'll just get to the stage where everyone wants to cap another factions ship to use on their home faction.
