Tractor Beams get a extra action of holding a target in space, but uses energy of that near a core weapon or less. Depending on ship class of power and energy use(ex. a dread or station can only use since they are the capital or flag ships.)

It shouldent take THAT much power...

But it would be nice if they could only be fitted for Dreadnoughts and Stations. Get too close and NAB people, and not holding them in place, just pulling them closer.

It is a good idea but if expanded a bit...

Tractor beams should be proportional to mass, IE. scouts shouldn't be pushing/pulling dreads around like they are. Conversely a station's tractor should have more power and the ability to "lock down" smaller vessels. For balance sake you could allow the tractor to be broken, say by certain velocity.

I agree with him, i find it kind of odd that tiny ships can shove such large ships around. Instead i think if you pull or push on an object of larger mass than you, you instead move yourself. I also agree that the larger the ship, the stronger the tractors should be.

yes, i agree with the smaller not taking out the larger ships. perhaps the tractor 2 could be:

something like 3X more powerful, but uses more energy, and if a ship "breaks" out it does like 20% damage, requiring it to be repaired before it can be used again. gives the little ships a chance
