Hey folks,
I just installed me SLED 10 and I want to be able to install DS onto it. So my question to the community is, has anyone but DS on Linux before? If so want to help a Nub out?

The client itself runs fine through wine with one minor bug, you cannot resize the window once the game or GCQL is started. I worked around this by playing with the config file and sizing the window manually. This worked fine for me on Linux RedHat 9 running wine 0.93b. Newer version are out now and probably much more stable.

ubuntu 6.10, wine 0.9.32
ds 1.483 release client, un-updated.

took a number of tries just to get it installed but eventually managed

running gcql.exe from termial. progress (or client update) window created prior to log-in, gcql.exe hangs at this point

in terminal:
Quote:
err:ntdll:RtlpWaitForCriticalSection section 0x6e80f0 "?" wait timed out in thread 000e, blocked by 000d, retrying (60 sec)
err:ntdll:RtlpWaitForCriticalSection section 0x6e80f0 "?" wait timed out in thread 0009, blocked by 000d, retrying (60 sec)

...repeats untill process killed

Hey Doran I got the same problem, also using Ubuntu, but I'm
using Dapper 6.06 with wine 0.9.9.
At first I thougt it was a firewall problem, but nope!
Then maybe my wireless router is blocking port 9100. nope!
Everything is fine network wise, just can't get past that damn screen!

Anyone else want to chime in?
Anyone got DS to run under Ubuntu/Linux?

It won't work under linux unless you can find a way to emulate MFC.

Yet I havn't had a virus or any spyware for years now, and, ohmigosh, I'm on Windows. It's also known that Linux isn't hacked as much as Windows because there are far less people using it. But enough about that, this thread isn't about smacking Windows or Linux.

GCQL uses MFC, and you'll need it's libraries to run it. If you need the DLL files, then one of the developers can rar/zip them up for you.

I'm running Windows Vista Ultimate.

Alright, so the only Virus I have ever gotten on any Windows OS are the ones where I have accidently led myself into them. But Windows has been able to find and get rid of them each time. Yeah, Window's sure does suck.

Tada. I'll see if I can get the DLL's so you can register then with WINE (Not sure if there's a command to register DLL's in WINE, like there is under Windows).

Ok, here's the link:
Download
(I hope BackSlash doesn't mind me using the DSFTP for this).
