backslash, you've got it all wrong.... a privi what???

ITS just GOOD Public relations for developer to clue their paying customers in on what is going on. And bad business to do otherwise that's why ds has no one playing it.

i hardly think the term massive applies to ds at all. this is just plain simple truth.

Very simple.
If you pay to play, and find you dont like what you play dont pay.
If you think DS is a charity, carry on subscribing.
If you think DS is not worth your £8, dont pay.
If you wish to carry on donating in the hope that it will get better, i would hate to be your bank manager.
I am a nurse, if you pay me i might become a better nurse, but you still dont own me, i am not going to change the course of treatment if i dont think it will make you better, thats my call.
Richard is the boss, you can continue to pay him but dont expect him to change his treatment of DS.

Well I cant help but wonder what is going to happen as more and more people stop paying the US $9.95 a month to sub?

Is Richard going to simply pull the plug, or come out with a statement like I am unable to spend any more time developing this game because there isn't enough $$ coming in from it for me to spend time on it.

In the last few months I have watched the daily adverage go down from 30+ to less than 18 and that is not good as when people login that have never played b4 and see that there is like 10 people in the game and another 7 or so in the lobby they straight away think well this game must be rubbish (for want of a more colourful word). Oh I must add that out of those numbers 6,7 or 8 are servers or whatever they are.

It is sad that a game with so many possibilities is slowly going down the drain, and in so many ways I feel sorry for the devs as they are the ones coping all the flack and they are really in the same boat as everyone else.

What can we do to try to help the whole situation? Who knows but I am pretty sure that people aren't going to just keep on giving their hard earned money to DS while it has all the problems it has.

(Yeah I know some of the usual people are probably going to try to flame me for what I have said here but no matter what they say the facts are that DS is in trouble and something needs to happen very soon)

Im not trying to say anything in specific, but you can take it whichever way you like.

Very... Interesting analogy. You have my props.

Richard has long ago stated that DS does not pay the bills. It has effectively been a hobby for .. I'm not sure, but probably a couple years. Recently he did come out and say in the lobby that DS is close to no longer paying for itself... meaning that while it is self-supporting (it would pay for its own server costs, mainly, and thus be able to be online in its current form indefinitely), it wasn't supporting him (so he needed another job to pay the mortgage, etc).

Basically, DS is near a break-even point. If it falls below that, it won't be run anymore. Its already only developed in his free time, but it soon may be canned entirely.

You can indeed make a sailing vessel out of brick and expect it to float. They already do it with concrete! You just need to be smart enough to do so. Weight vs. displacement!

At least if you build a boat of bricks and its still floating, it must mean that its just that much harder to destroy than a wooden one.

If he is only 90% completed, there is a good chance it will sink. Would you want to take a risk driving a car that is only 90% finished, and you dont know what parts are missing? Maybe the brakes, maybe just some of the body. I would rather wait til it is 100% done and know that it will float than be hasty and sink.

15 inch naval cannons really make this point moot.
