I played Guild Wars when it came out (bought the collector's edition) Didn't like it at all. Too much instancing and the focus is purely on small arena-based PvP matches. And it basically forces you to join a guild.
To me, it's not much different than playing a game like Battlefield 2, only instead of choosing a server from a list, you hang out in a virtual chat room called a "city" and enter an arena or leave the city for your own personal instance to "join a game".
And it's not a mmorpg 
It's not the worst of games, it's just not what I want out of a game, especially a multiplayer game.
