could try just pushing the atmosphere off....altho that would require incredible amounts of power and a large scale attempt at building generators on the surface and using geo themal power to expand the atmosphere of the planet to the point where enough is forced away from the gravity field

Fly a bunch of large probes in with giant storage tanks, suck in & compress as much atmo as possible, fly them back out into space, vent, rinse & repeat

As to the solar shade; I saw a documentary about emergency measures to prevent global warming, and the solar shade this guy designed (out of millions of little bubble-thin plates of glass) was estimated to cost the entire GDP of the United States of America. That's a tad expensive, yes?

I do believe that the best plan to cooling down Venus is to build a base on the moon, mine aluminium (or something) there, and send it to Venus via a BFG to absorb the carbon dioxide. I, myself, can invision nuclear explosives to the same effect.

well nukes would have adverse affects for two reasons; it would cause an increase in carbon dioxide and radiation, effectively making the planet even worse than when we started, second it would be difficult to attempt to terraform a radioactive sludge ball into something nice and suitable

lets consentrate on getting self sustaining moon base operational
and / or getting some manned based missions to mars.

we can't do mutch to venus with its thick atmosphere, we aint got the tech for it.
but we can thinken a atmosphere and mars is a good place to start.

Antimatter Warp drives FTW!

Quite possible actually (antimatter has been synthesized but because it is techinaclly not matter it is not a element and its not on the the PTOA *Periodic Table*) Antimatter is estimated to have 5000 times the energy a nucluer power plant produces yearly. Only problem is 1 Particle Accelrator has made about 0.000001 Ounce of this stuff in the past 5 years. So either we need to make a couple hundred billion accelrators or find a better way to make it.
