Godwin has stated[1] that he introduced Godwin's law as an experiment in memetics.
Memetics as a social, Internet-fuelled popular scientific movement is now probably over.
Many of the original proponents have moved away from it. Richard Dawkins and Daniel Dennett (pioneers in the field) have both expressed some reservations as to its applicability (to the internet)
If you would care to read further, you would also see that memetics (as a prop to base arguements) is in such an infant state that it doesn't even have rules to govern formal arguements. there are no set scientific protocols, or credible peer tests... in otherwords you are just quoting some slick lookin web page from wikipedia (as am i) trying to debate me with yesterdays version of the sociological impact the internet is having on people. i guess i'll do as you asked and leave the debate table after all... i wasn't debating to win or lose, just to speak my mind..
