I've never been a real "hardcore" gamer, but the games I first remember playing are:

TIE Fighter

Mechwarrior 2 (For some reason, I can still recite the names of the mechs, in order, plus the cheats to unlock the hidden mechs: "Calvin" or "Hobbes")

Flight Unlimited 2

Monkey Island, Day of the Tentacle, Sam & Max Hit the Road

well, now i feel really old.... first game i played to death was lode runner for the commodore vic 20, archon for the commodore 64, shufflepuck for the Atari 520/1040 then with the emergence of local BBS's, a text game called Arena..
as for consoles, i'd have to say asteroids, combat, and pitfall for the original atari... pitstop, oils wells, and spyhunter for the coleco...

Oh hell...

I count console gamer & PC gamer as seperate phases. I was a console gamer since NES in the mid '80s, but never really considered myself a "gamer"

Its hard for me to remember... I remember playing Stunts, Wolfenstein, and Doom all around the same period, which got me big into games in the early 90's, and IIRC Stunts was actually late 80's was it not?

Okay... Well, I think it all started for me playing on my Grandma's Nintendo, and Super Nintendo... I remember playing Super Mario Bros, Megaman, Tetris, Street Fighter, Ninja Turtles, Zelda, Mystic Quest, Final Fantasy (some low number) etc...

Then my older brother, brought myself and my younger brother to our first "Net Cafe" and showed us how to play Counter-Strike. We became g0dz0rz and the rest is history...

Yey...

Edit: I forgot STARFOX, woot
