Tainted Cheese!
Recently, a pirate vessel commissioned in UGTO space for ICC cheese smuggling discovered several derelict ICC vessels orbiting very close to Luyten. The crew was dead and presumed to have died in combat. The smugglers raided the vessel stores of ICC cheese and discovered large quantities of Grade A++ in the storage bays. Without hesitation, this cheese was procured and sold on the blackmarket.
With the smugglers happy to have made a high profit by selling the cheese on the blackmarket, rather than through normal channels of Cheese Inspection Stations, the cheese was released to the public unchecked. Within the past four days at least 19 million fatalities have resulted in at least 3 systems. Public fears of cheese consumption has resulted in sudden and powerful drops in the cheese market on Wall Street. Cheese Brokers have been consuming the tainted cheese to end their financial suffering all morning.
Our Incompetent Enemies
Rushed tests have discovered that the ICC have again attempted to steal our QST technology and failed miserably. Singularity radiation leaked from the prototype warhead, contaminating the cheese stores of the entire fleet. The crew of the ICC ships died from cheese consumption, leaving the tainted cheese to be discovered some time later by the smugglers. A large Recon squardon has already been launched from Mycopia to investigate the derelict vessels for this theoretical warhead.
Sabotage!
Other leaders and scientists consider that perhaps it was not a prototype warhead at all, but rather a new weapon developed by the K'luth to harm both human factions and instigate further conflict between us. To this end, it has thus far worked. Additional vessels have been deployed to partol ICC borders and attention has swayed from the previously rapid capture of K'luth systems. Further information from the Recon squadron will indicate which theory, if either, is correct.
