A small artificial satelite going by the name of Sputnik was wrenched from this earth towards the stars, becoming the first of its kind to come into orbit around us.
Here's to the first 50 years of mankind's race towards space.

April 12, 1961 would be the first man in space, Yuri Gagarin.
