i have just downloaded the open beta and registered my name and when i play i get to the part where you veiw the planets but there is no text on the buttons......the faq says to turn off FSAA but i run a voodoo 3 which does not support FSAA so this should not be an issue......is there an ingame option for FSAA or what........any help would be apreciated

No, there are no option like that, you might want to tinker with the game option, run the darkspace.exe in the folder with the game and mess around with the res and stuff, it might work...
