Well Ive been doing Satellites for a good while now and i could proudly say i have not had any injurys or close calls... Until today.

It was around 13:34 and my coworker called me said he fell off the roof. Shocked as i was i came out to help him and grabbed the dish weighed around 50lb. (HD Sat). So i climb up the latter and notice its kinda steep but i continue on up and get to the roof and get a good footing. I start up towards the mast to put this Dish in place. Well i get about half way up the roof when my footing starts to slip... heh tell u what i tried my hardest to stop myself from sliding downwards.. my speed was rapidly speeding up and i neared the edge. I was coming up on my ladder and tried to put my feet against it as i came up to it hoping that would stop my descent... nope wrong.. did not stop me at all.. the ladder kicked out from under me and fell with me.

Ok, pause for a sec so i can discribe what lyed below for me. There was 3 AC units below, a concret walkway, and some other odd items.

Well when i started to go over seem i was falling slowly, i could see the AC unit right in my path of where i was going to land but somehow i got turned sideways and barely missed it by a few inches. I just layed there cause i was in a state of shock from the scare of my life ending.

If u think im crazy for being scared, u go up 2 stories on a roof and slide down till u hit the ground... bet u wont think its crazy then now would ya.

Oh Btw, the dish did not make it... it landed and Bent in 3 diffrent places making it worthless.

Yeah, falling off a roof isnt exactly a casual event.

Back during the hurricane season a year ago, our roof got pretty beat up. So, I go up there with my dad and start pulling the shingles off so we can re-roof the house. As I'm getting on the ladder, the ladder sinks into the ground abit, and I take a nice fall. Was lucky enough to miss the tree stump and the concrete walkway.

Get checked for back injuries bro, thats the most common & can cause the most damage.

As a SBCA Certified Satillite Installer (HD Certified) with DirecTV systems I can attest to the sinking feeling of having a 50Lb DIsh in your hands and the wind catching it and knowing your going down with nothing but the ground to stop you...

All I can say to you is.... Workmans Comp... They have to take care of you.
