I have been thinking and think it would be cool to add Explosive Reactive Armor for UGTO, just a suggestion.

Isn't that kind of redundant, calling armor reactive and explosive?

I'm probably not thinking of it how you are, I think it needs a rename.

Yeah! Something hits the armor, AND THE ARMOR EXPLODES!

Totally makes sense.

Quote:
Reactive armour is a type of vehicle armour that reacts in some way to the impact of a weapon to reduce the damage done to the vehicle being protected. It is most effective in protecting against shaped charges and long rod penetrators. The most common type is explosive reactive armour (ERA),

Nothing in darkspace is like that. Nothing in darkspace is a shaped charge (arguebly torpedeos could be, but to me those are contact explosives akin to mines) and nothing is a long thin rod like a bullet (gauss guns are the exception, however one could argue that the layers of armor/shields on ships reduces its kinetic impact considerably or entirely)

ergo, my point still stands. "Oh no, a bolt of plasma is heading towards us, let's make the armor explode outwards in a vain attempt to stop the superheated piece of plasma when it hits", is probably the silliest idea i've everheard

from a game perspective: Why do we need explosive armor? What are it's bennefits/disadvantages that will add something new to darkspace?

tl;dr - no.

I always thought we already had it in Reactive Armor, to counteract projectiles such as railguns and gauss guns...
Which kind of already counteract themselves.

I thought ablative armour shredded itself from the ship in order to stop incoming projectiles?
