oh thats funny....because i tried that WITH eledores fix and it still told me it failed....yet i can access the beta GCQL....WITHOUT eledores fix...uhm....oh by the way this might shed some light
Faustus said that it takes between 12-24 hours for internet DNS systems to be booted up....not all states have been updated....

First of. that old fix i wrote.
ISN"T FOR THIS PROBLEM! SO DON'T USE IT!
It involves old information and if used it might actualy be the problem that prevents you from joining the lobby in the first place
For everyone else.
It is all about what your ISP has set its TTL on there DNS servers.
But that you can reach Game GC Beta and that tells us that atleast some DNS names to DS work at your location.
Usualy a TTL set by providers and higher DNS servers have is 24 hours. But there refresh. (aka look for new) is usualy 8 hours. But some ISP's varry on this.
But there are events when you ISP DNS server is unable to find the existing or renewd Domain name. Then it should try to hunt for this domain from the root servers up. becous if it will hit his expire date the domain will no longer point to the old ip.
(Usualy renew hunting is every 2 hours and the expire date is set to 7 days.)
Ok this all al verry limited on the technical part but i smart people should say:
WHY is there no default settings for all DNS servers? I dunno ask ICANN!
Ok to the advice part. From simple to hard.
Plz try if it works afther each point on this list.
- First off reboot your pc in case you haven't tried that
- Ipconfig /release
Ipconfig /flushdns
Ipconfig /renew
Ipconfig /registerdns
- Tracert mirror-server.palestar.com It should say:
Tracing route to luyten.palestar.com [209.198.133.215]
If not post reply with your IP or failure of tracert.
- [/i]This following involves looking for probems ans is no solution. but reply with the information below here and we might be able to see
Route print
Check if you only have 3 gateways that have 1 as metric
(Some virusscanners or firewalls might mess around in here, it just shows how bad the realy are.)
Ipconfig /all
Make a note of your Default Gateway, and your DNS Servers.
Tracert *your Default Gateway*
Should not be above 4 Hops
Ping *your Default Gateway*
Might work might not, most ISP's don't want to leave there Gateway open to exploits.[/b]
Tracert *your second DNS server*
[i]Ff you don't have a second do the first. but that means you got crappy network or ISP.
it should stay below 8 Hops, usualy its 4 (atleast in europe).
Ping *your second DNS server*
same as the Default Gateway. may or may not work its just a redundant check.
- Since goth said he could not get [ipconfig /flushdns] to work i tought about that. If you the error
Could not flush the DNS Resolver Cache: Function failed during execution.
Happens when trying to to /dnsflush. plz open up a new command promt. and don't use anny active internet functions when your doing this.
NOTHING NO RADIO, NO DOWNLOADS! letting this webpage open is ok.
Net stop "DNS service"
Net start "DNS service"
Yes include the " " " or it won't work.
- I got one more thing you could try but this involves changing the physical host names, like i did in the previous dns problem fix.
But this could create more problems again in the future.
Therefor not typing this out unless you know what "RFC 1035" is.
If you do you don't need my help to overcome the problem.
my solid 3 euro cent.
[edit]
So manny [tags] mistakes and typo's

Click on the "Play" button at the top of the GameCQ lobby. A List of all available servers will be displayed, you can click once on a server to see more information displayed in a box when you hover your pointer over the selected server. If you are just starting, look for the server named "newbie.darkspace.net".
Once you find a server, you can join in any one of three ways. 1: Simply double click on that server to join. 2: You can also right-click on a server and select "Connect" to begin your game on that server.. 3: Select the server so that it is highlighted, and press the Play button again
If you're having problems connecting to a server, make sure your client is up to date by pressing the red "Update" button at the top of the lobby, and that your display mode setting is correct in "Setup". If all else fails, ask in the lobby, chances are pretty good someone can help.
