The day had just dawned over a lovely Sunny morning on the UGTO planet of paul. People had taken to the various Cities and Towns scattered on its surface.
But, at the security center, the mood was a great deal less jubilant.
Echoing reports of an ICC invasion were flowing from Delta Pavonis to the Fiercely defended planets of Epsilon Caranie Aa and R33.
The Reports were garbled, people could be heard screaming and shouting.
The person sending the Transmission had been practically yelling into his microphone on Orrayan,
"HELP! An ICC....." then silence.
The rumors were that the ICC had developed a prototype of a new fighter-bomber. It had an exceptionally advanced cargo bay that held neutron bombs.
When these rumors reached Paul, the defense staff were put on Triple shifts.

A patrolling EAD bursted out of the shadow created by Polyxana and started jumping to the battle at Bure. An Unidentified fighter craft was attacking several planets near Bure. Inital thoughts were that a pirate attack force were attempting to take the Bure cluster by force.
The transmissions radio was crammed full of people screaming,
" What the Hell is going on?"
The EAD's commander, Known as SaturnShadow to his collegues wondered the same thing.
He ordered his backup of an assault corvette and a missle destroyer to go to the R33 jumpgate. He didnt want a pirate incursion to get any further than here.
As the EAD came out of tachyon space, the seriousness of the situation hit him. An assault force of 3 Pirate destroyers had assulted Bure with stolen ICC fighters.
"All hands Ready! Prepare to fire the QST on my mark, Drafell!"
The pirates were zig-zagging to spread the missle fire. Saturn ordered his weapons officer to target the middle Ship and fire.
The was a resounding thump throughout the ship as the QST was sent on its way. The EAD then turned to focus most of it's waepons on the destroyers. It fired an Alpha strike at the nearest Destroyer, blowing it up and leaving nothing but dust in it's wake.
The Pirates turned to flee and they Jumped into the saftey of tachyon
space.

"DAMN!" Yelled Commander 'squish' McGee. "That last fighter bombing nealy had us!"
That first bombing had been so well aimed that it took out the communications array with one hit.
Just one. No ICC weapon was capable of that.
"SIR! ENERGY FLUXUATION APPROX 5000gu FROM BENEVOLESE!" screamed the leftenant. "It's unidentifiable!
A new enemie, a new challenge.
A new threat.
Squish played those 3 thoughts over and over in his head.
Paul was a weak target. And with the nearest Military vessel still in Alpha Centauri, Paul would just have to hold up.

Its pretty good, keep working on it and you'll have a great fanfic in no time. Although you got your facts wrong. Drafell playing second banana to Saturn=no....otherwise its pretty good!

As the bombs seemingly floated towards Paul, the defense staff manned the Laser stations. Everyone knew their job. Destroy the bombs. Or die.
The first lasers were fired at the bombs and was rewarded with an explosion. But it didnt match any known ICC or UGTO weapon. Nevertheless, the lasers kept firing and the bombs kept exploding.
But, they kept on coming. It seemed that for every destroyed bomb, 4 more took their place. As the bombs floated ever closer, Evacuation ships began to lift civilians off the planet. All the Evac ships would head to Demaret in lalande.
But it wasnt to be.
A signal came through to the demaret Security network. It was extremlly garbled but it mentioned an unidentified ship to have uncloaked at the Jumpgate. This was extremely worrying news. Most of the 50 million civilians had died that day. The rest were free-floating in their ships. without food and water, They would die.
On Paul, the bombs had struck and Squish saw as the City only 28 miles away was destroyed. The shockwave nearly reached the Security compound but, the damage was done.
The bombs had destroyed all but 3 of the security and defense turrets. Any further bombs and the planet would fall.
Also, to make things worse, most of the infantry had died as well.
Things were looking grim for Paul.

Saturnshadow's EAD was in desparate need of repair. After the last clash with a pair of pirate destroyers, it needed the depot repairing services that only the Paul cluster could give.
He ordered his second in command to take the bridge. He went to his ready room and lay on his old sofa. It was a grand one, Imported from Mercury 3 years ago. The moment saturn laid his head on it, was the second he fell into a deep and troubled sleep.
As his thoughts raced though his mind, he saw fragments of a memory.
It was a planet on fire, People screaming. Saturnshadow's thoughts raced on but during that sleep he saw many dark and prophetic visions.
He was awaken only by the soung of a buzzer. The ships Helm man, 'Goth thug' was preparing to jump into Tachyon space but needed the Captain's permission.
As he went through the doors ofhis ready room onto the bridge, he saw why he needed permission.
A Gaifen, free floating was in front of them. It's gruesome features leering at the ship.
Saturn gave the order to Charge all of the HCL's.
When they were charged, saturn gave the order to fire.

The Gaifen's gruesome insides exploded silently, mishapen body parts floating through space.
The crew of the bridge were stunned at the enormity of the gaifen's death.
Its insides were splattered against the ship and the blood was just hanging in a green cloud in front of the ship. Saturn shadow gave to order to go into tachyon space. The helm man reacted slowly, almost frozen by that violent moment of death.
The way the creature had started convulsing when the first HCL cut through its body, the way it had clutched at the Ship as it made one last grasp for life. Everyone in the ship would never forget that moment.

The security staff at Paul were being pushed back into the complex. They knew that they had to make a last stand here, in the main defense control complex.
Laser bolts cut through the air as the 2 sides clashed, the infantry of the ICC advancing mercilessly. As the last corridor to the control room was sealed, the Defense staff started to make barricades. Each of them unslung their rifles and crouched behind heavy metal plates, waiting for a fight.
Squish felt sick, he had never been trained for the ICC's nerual shock torture and was gabbling incompredably. He had been given the shock 16 times and his brain was almost black from all the electrocutions. He knew that he had to keep his secrets to himself. He started gabbiling again, his power for speech gone.
They neural shocked him again...

How did "squish" get captured and by who?
And why is he being tortured?

The fighters swept past the destroyers wreckage as they escorted the bombers to their next target. It was just 4 seconds after the Combat team had dropped out of slipspace that they were attacked. The Echoes of a distress had reached Vesper and a combat team led by Kanman himself was heading for the jumpgate connecting Lalande and R33.
4 seconds...
He grabbed onto his chair as the deck shuddered. The distant rumble of melting metal echoed around the ship. He tapped on a small handpad orders for the other combat ships to regroup. The command dreadnaught that Kanman was on had taken substantial systems damage. 4 decks of the ship had been totally depressurized. Over 25 people dead.
The helmsman yelled back to him, "Sir! New contact! Unknown classification and its heading straight for us!"
Kanman mumbled a curse. "Turn us side on! Make sure that it isnt hostile before we fire. Until it fires or opens commuication, focus on the ICC Border cruiser!"
The helmsman obliged and the dreadnaught turned to its side. Another fighter squadron was released from the command dread. It headed straight for the Border cruiser and began to fire.
Suddenly, amid chaos on the command bridge, a massive rumble echoed through the entire ship.
The inter-ship comminication system buzzed. It was Cpl. Bardiche. The security chief of the Command dread.
"Sir! ICC infantry has boarded! we will perform retrogrades into non-important areas of the ship where we can hold them!"
"Give them hell, sarge." Kanman replied.

The main control center on Paul was surrounded by ICC heavy infantry. The shaken defense staff were tired, dirty and angry at their situation. Suddenly, a bright light beamed through the bulkhead, blinding 3 of the guards instantly.
This was followed by a massive THUMP! and the bulkhead was flung 20 meters into the room. It hit one unlucky soldier who was standing there and crushed him to death. Laser fire split the air into prisms as the room filled with shouts, smoke and death. Soldiers from both sides fell but the ICC were too strong for the defense staff. After just 12 minutes of extremly fierce fighting, the UGTO soldiers surrendered and laid down their weapons.
The ICC as one, let out a cry that shook the stars and yelled joyously as they realised they had taken Paul.
But then, 4000gu from Paul, slipspace ripples caught the attention of an ICC heavy cruiser.
It was never heard from again...

then all of a sudden the EAD 'UWS Flying Dutchman' jumped in and saved the day! whooo! XD
a good beginner's work. no clumped writing, nice paragraphs. it's readable.
