any idea what could cause this?
i'm running xp64... haven't played in a while was going to give things a spin
would be nice to be able to get into the lobby lol
oh i saw the ie update problems, i do not have those installed though as i've had autoupdate turned off forever
any suggestion?

double check if you dont have them:p
do you have SP2 or SP3?
Also, the thing with getting in trough beta does work, so thats quite handy and a way to fix it.

Remove the errornous updates (If you have SP3 you do not need to do this)
Afterwards make sure you have fully updated both GCQL and Darkspace itself, by letting the smartupdate run and once in the lobby pressing the Red Update Diamond.

If after all that it still won't work, maybe you could try downloading the beta client from here and following the instructions on the front page, install the Release version of DarkSpace there.
... Otherwise, the new GCQL is much sexier than the old one anyway.
