This is just an idear...but...would there be anyway posible to make the beams that you set to PD not fire when you alpher shot?

Could be usefull, also making it so when you shift+alpha doesnt toggle PD on/off too. Annoying when you have to correct it when you gotta quickly self detonate your weapons with the biggest closest button to you when your fingers are not near the home row number keys.

You could always number you weapons too. That way when you shift you wont turn off your point defense.

the alpha strike is meant as an all out attack, so its natural that even point defense would step in and fire a shot.
and as smartin said numbering your weapons is the way to go.
i always number them on range an splash so that when im close the only things shooting are the cannons/lasers and on longer range cannons and torpedo/missiles
